Van Melick Groep Transitions to New Ownership Structure

Jorrit van Melick and Rob Matti have acquired the Van Melick Groep from LIOF and co-shareholder Marco Geurten, marking a significant transition in the company's ownership structure aimed at fostering growth in the hospitality sector.

In a strategic move to enhance its market position, Jorrit van Melick and Rob Matti have successfully acquired the Van Melick Groep from LIOF and co-shareholder Marco Geurten. This acquisition, announced on February 3, 2026, sets the stage for the company to embark on a new growth phase within the hospitality, catering, events, and location management sectors in the Euregio.

The Van Melick Groep, based in Limburg, Netherlands, is a prominent player in the hospitality industry, employing over 300 staff members. The company provides a range of services, including catering for businesses, schools, and healthcare facilities, as well as managing well-known venues such as La Caverne and Kasteel de Hoogenweerth.

Jorrit van Melick, who will continue to serve as the company’s general director, expressed gratitude for the support received from LIOF and Marco Geurten during challenging times. “Thanks to the support and involvement of LIOF and Marco Geurten, we have emerged stronger from a difficult period. With Rob Matti on board, we have a solid foundation to continue our growth within the Euregio,” he stated.

LIOF, the regional development company for the Province of Limburg, initially invested in Van Melick Groep in 2020 to help the family-owned business navigate the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The investment provided crucial capital and expertise, enabling the company to stabilize and prepare for future growth.

With the new ownership structure, Van Melick Groep aims to strengthen its market share in the Euregio, expanding its services into new markets and enhancing its operational efficiency. The partnership between Van Melick and Matti is expected to leverage their combined expertise to improve management practices and service delivery.

As the hospitality sector continues to recover from the pandemic, this acquisition positions Van Melick Groep to capitalize on emerging opportunities. The company plans to streamline operations and explore cross-selling opportunities in hospitality and events, which could lead to increased revenue streams.

Looking ahead, the integration of the new management team will be crucial. Challenges may arise in aligning corporate cultures and managing operations across multiple countries, particularly as the company seeks to expand its geographic footprint into Belgium and Germany.

Overall, this acquisition not only marks a pivotal moment for Van Melick Groep but also highlights the potential for growth within the Limburg region’s hospitality sector.
