VDL Groep has acquired Sintecs, a specialist in complex digital electronics, to bolster its offerings in high-quality electronics. This strategic move, announced on January 15, 2026, aligns with VDL's goal of becoming a comprehensive partner in mechanics, software, and electronics.

VDL Groep has announced its acquisition of Sintecs, a company renowned for its expertise in complex digital electronics. This strategic acquisition, which was revealed on January 15, 2026, aims to enhance VDL’s capabilities in high-quality electronics, particularly in sectors such as telecommunications, automotive, medical, energy, and defense.

Sintecs, founded in 2000 and headquartered in Hengelo, Netherlands, has established itself as a key player in the electronics industry, employing approximately 75 people. The company reported an annual turnover of 8.5 million euros in 2025, showcasing its robust market presence. Sintecs specializes in designing and developing high-end electronics, including printed circuit boards (PCBs) and embedded software, and markets its products under the Scalys brand.

The acquisition is part of VDL’s broader strategy to provide a one-stop-shop solution for its customers, integrating mechanics, software, and electronics. VDL Groep’s President and CEO, Willem van der Leegte, stated, “Our ambition is to be a one-stop-shop industrial partner for our customers. With the skilled employees of Sintecs joining our ranks, our electronics expertise will be further expanded, particularly in the areas of development and support for manufacturability and testability of electronics in our factories.”

VDL Groep has previously expanded its electronics capabilities through acquisitions of TBP Electronics in 2020 and Rena Elektronica in 2023. The addition of Sintecs is expected to further strengthen VDL’s competencies in electronics development and production support, particularly in high-tech and cybersecurity sectors.

One of Sintecs’ notable products is the TrustBox Edge, a cyber-secure network solution designed for secure data processing. This product exemplifies Sintecs’ commitment to integrating security from the initial design phase, ensuring reliability and robustness in critical environments.

Looking ahead, VDL Groep plans to leverage Sintecs’ expertise to enhance its service offerings and develop new high-tech products. The integration of Sintecs into VDL’s operations is anticipated to streamline design-to-production processes and improve project management capabilities.

As VDL Groep continues to expand its footprint in the high-quality electronics sector, this acquisition positions the company to better serve its customers and remain competitive in an evolving market.
